Hi, anyone every used this firm in Braintree, Essex? They have really good reviews for remaps and have quoted me £320 to take my 2012 116i from 136 to 220bhp with bags more torque! Looks good so I've booked it in!

Any views / comments?

What sort of increase in insurance premium are you expecting?

Insurance is a good point actually, its quite a big jump and some insurance companies categorise them in stages, such as 0-25% increase. When I had a mapped car it had a 20% increase so was in the lowest category and added £70 pa. This might be quite a bit more!

As for the numbers themselves, I quite believe them as this, the 114i and the 120i all had broadly the same engine in different states of tune, so all had the same potential. Just be aware that tyres and brakes might suddenly seem a little inadequate after the map.

Is your car turbocharged? If not, I suspect that 220 bhp from a 1.6 is unachievable (137.5 bhp/litre).

Is it the same engine as the R53 Mini? I know someone who has a Mini on standard internals producing 330bhp at the wheels!
