I am advised that the o/s output seal is starting to ‘sweat’, guess this means it’s on its way out.
Is this something which I should get sorted asap and is this a big expensive job. Thanks for advise and comments.

I’m guessing you mean diff output shaft seal? If you’ve done a few, quick and easy. £20 max for seal. Unbolt shaft from diff. Lever drive flange out. Lever old seal out. Drift new seal in. Refitting is reversal of removal! No need for new diff bolts.

On one side you need to lower the rear box down. Sometimes you need to lower anti roll bar to get access.

Thanks for reply, the car was in for the recall, they carried out an inspection (foc) and simply stated off side output seal sweating. In addition a front shock is leaking so a new pair to be fitted. Unfortunately I no longer carry out repairs relying on the BMW indie.

Sweating suggests a slight leak so could probably be left and monitored for a while (depending on how promptly you like to fix your car as everyone is different).

Thanks helix, got the shocks and rear discs and pads to replace so the seal can take a back seat for now then.
