My 2015 X1 has shown corrosion on 3 wheels. The other was repaired a week after I bought it by the dealer due to it being kerb’d and is not showing any signs of corrosion. Today BMW said that the others were not covered by the warranty as they had been “refurbished”. Seeing as this car was an ex demo and I’ve never had them done where do I stand with any compliant against the dealer? Other than them I have been the only owner of this vehicle.

The wheels have never been kerb’d by myself or suffered any damage.

I had all four of my alloys replaced foc by bmw ., but I had owned the car from new

Unfortunately as a used car you cannot vouch for what happened to it before you bought it

It is entirely possible and indeed probable that the wheels were refurbished by the dealer once it came off their internal fleet as part of the pre sale prep

I’ve had plenty of loan cars from dealers over the years and almost all have had some body/wheel marks on them

If BMW U.K. are refusing to honour the warranty as the wheels have been refurbed then I’d suggest you politely take it up with the management at the supplying dealer

Thanks. The only owner previous to myself was the dealership so if any refurb has been done it was them.

BMW Customer services are investigating anyway.
