I love my M135 but as its a 3 door and with 2 grandchildren now i need something with rear doors. I also want a car with a decent engine so have these 2 at the top of my want list.

has anyone driven both.

The audi seems a nicer interior to be in but the 440i is to me the more attractive looking vehicle,

I like my M135 interior and i assume the 440i will be similar (but nicer)

Good read ,,realise it includes the S5 not S4 but ... anyway it includes a tasty alternative Merc C43

I had the same choice a few months back.

Really wanted the C43, but I was offered a deal on a new 440i GC in stock which blew the S4 and C43 deals out the water.

I don't regret it either as it's a lovely car. Goes well and sounds great, and also returns great mpg which is a bonus.

Not as powerful as the alternatives, but you can always do what I did and opt for the M Performance Power and Sound Kit to go up to 360bhp+ and a vocal switchable exhaust.

Im envious !! Thats the thing isnt it no other marque can get near BMW deals. Cars that cost about the same are out of my reach yet BMWs are ,wonder why? Wonder what the business economics of it all is

I’m not sure but aren’t BMW privately owned?

It probably becomes easier to run low margins vs a public company with shareholders demanding a good ROI.

In any case C43 AMG seems a bit weird to me.
380bhp and 6 pot for an AMG is like going back to the 90s.
It’s more an AMG lite shirley?

S4 not sure, but VAG ime isn’t as nice as BMW stuff for the driver focus/sensations, at least at the sportier end of the spectrum.

If you’re renting one and under warranty I’d go for the 440i every day of the week... except snowy days.

i went from a M135i to a 335i touring. it was a great decision as we have two babies now. I did look into S4 avants, but the front seats are huge, so the rear room did not look much better than the 1 series. when i found a manual 335i it was a no brainer. It does feel a bit slower, and does not have the MPE (yet) but i am sure it will be have a couple of small upgrades. the pano roof is lovely.
