My 2016 320d is due it’s 2nd service (1st in my ownership) and went to Sytner’s website as they are down the road from work and have a handy online quote system.

Oil & filter and micro filter £258
Vehicle check £59
Standard scope £27

So that is £354 for essentially an oil and filter change. Are they taking the piss?

I’m tempted to just take it to a generic garage. The first service was done by the car supermarket I bought the car from so there is no idrive entry anyway!

That sounds like a piss take!

My S4 is in to Audi next week for its first service and that's £226 for similar (oil supplied by the dealer). I can't see why a 320d should be 50% more?

It is I think

Just looked on knights Stafford and the same service is 229.

It would be worth the hours travel to save 120 quid

First price seems about right, when i compare to my local specialist. Every other service it gets fuel and air filter change in addition. 2nd price, I'd assume doesn't include that.

Both prices are exactly the same in terms of what is replaced. (Itemised on the first post)

Both used the dealers own service quote tool which is a bmw supplied system (so same format)

On ringing sytners they then quote 515 for a “major” service because some items need doing above the CBS requirements.

Defeats the point of CBS then surely?

Been doing to googling and cant find an official schedule for the later BMW’s so unsure if bullstting.

Seems an OK price though, if not then save the £50 and go to the other place, I pay the same for an oil service on my M3 but I guess the cost is the same regardless of the model as they do the same stuff.

A nearby. (Ish) specialist got back to me and can do the full major service (fuel/air filters etc) and update the idrive for 360 so going there instead.

282 for an oil and filter change on a 4 pot is mental. If I had a 330 then fine as more oil is needed but not the 2.0.

What do you mean a full/major service? The car needs what it needs so they are charging you another £80 for a fuel filter it doesn't need? When say update the idrive again what do they mean? idrive gets updates to the nav on the fly other stuff needs istep level integration upgrades but they are hardly noticeable I've had them and there is basically no difference, snake oil right there.

You say £280 is mental but you're about to spend £360.....

TBH i hadn’t considered that air filter/fuel filter etc would need doing at some point (sounds silly I know - just assumed CBS would cover it). Nowhere on idrive service section does it suggest a schedule for any of those (same as microfilter) but would still need doing. Since on my old golf’s fixed schedule they were replaced every other service (20k) so at 32k it’s probably about time to do the extras.

When I say update the idrive I mean add the service record (you need the correct bmw software to do this)
