Hi,

Long time since last posting so bear with! My Sat Nav, Parking Sensors and ICE has all gone down and I am lost with where I should be looking to find the problem. I sense it is elecrtrical as initially the failure was intermittent but now is total and i recall hearing some buzzing arounnd the transmission tunnel. Any ideas gratefully received!

That’s all part of it goes through the cic so I’d start with that

Before doing ANYTHING, check batteries. Modern day BMW's have all types of faulty electrical issues from bad batteries. Check voltages, and check the battery has been coded to the car. X5's need their batteries coded to the car for proper charging to occur, so that is key.

Thanks for this. I have disconnected the battery and tried to “reboot” it but no joy! I think I have an electrical fault somewhere!

Pull out the cic/head unit and disconnect the main plug on the rear. Check for power and earth - larger red and brown wire. Check can connection (twisted pair wires) - a reading of around 2.3 to 2.8v on both can wires gives a good idea of health. If these are all ok then plug it back in - if u can’t hear it boot up then it’s kaput.

I’m assuming it’s giving no radio or parking Sensor sounds or is it just
The screen not working and it still makes radio noises ?
