Hi there, looking at potentially purchasing a 4 series coupe in the near future.

The 1 thing that is a sticking point is the occasional need for 5 seats and obviously the 4 series is a strictly 4 seater. Is there a conversion available similar to the X6 conversion kit at all?

Obviously the gran coupe is 5 seats, but possibly slightly out budget in comparison to the deal I could work out.

Cheers

Don't believe there are any conversion kits out there for it. I wouldn't want to put someone in the middle of those seats anyway, its extremely cramped. I would consider the Gran Coupe or simply a higher spec 3 series. If 5 seats are needed, I would put the extra money that is needed to get a 4 series into the 3 series and get either a newer model year or a car with more options e.g. adaptive suspension, auto, Harmon/Kardan sound system, maybe even a Heads-up display, or even Adaptive Cruise Control.

I would also consider a 6 series Gran-Coupe and a X6/X5

I would not get a 6GC to seat 5. The 5th seat is a joke and I say that as an owner, limbs need removing to make it even remotely sensible.

I think the start point is that if you need a 5-seat car, you buy a 5-seat car. Can't see that it would be cheaper to buy and convert a standard 4 series.

Would you be able to make it legal, even if possible? If the car is licensed for four, would you get away without a ticket five up, even with five seats (in the unlikely event police notice)?
