I did try a search but didn't see any results.

Apart from going to BMW, are their any UK based suppliers of the different "specialist" tools for BMWs?

I'm looking for a crankshaft holding tool (11 6 310) for the M47 diesel engine.

I've seen a couple of home made items on Ebay & Amazon, but was wondering how much I might be able to get the actual tool for. I've seen some "may as well be made of cheese" comments re some of the online tools.

Thanks,
Steve

Interesting - it says "crankshaft turning tool" but not crank locking tool.

It's like a darn great castellated nut on an arm that goes into the centre of the crank damper

If it’s for an m47 after 2003 I think then you can hold the crank via a hole in the bottom of the gearbox and locking the flywheel

Now that might be just the thing. Shame postage adds 50% to the cost, but I guess it's not that light.

Pretty good feedback too - apart from the odd "poor fit", "broke" for a couple of other tools.

50%?

Which maths lessons did you stay away from?

Never mind maths, it's possibly Specsavers I need.
Could have sworn I read that as nigh on 14 quid! (And yes, I appreciate that's not 50% but I was applying rough rounding)
