BMW 650 E63 - Code Reader
Discussion
It’s behind a latched flap on the ‘roof’ of the footwell, approximately in line with the right hand side of the steering wheel. If you feel around, you’ll get the flap. It’s longitudinal in alignment with the car direction, and hinges away from you, ie to the front. It does take a little effort to open, (not force, if you see what I mean...)
Once there, it’s an obd2 port.
Many code readers/applications are available, I’ve got Carly (ok), Foxwell nt510 (iirc) & I’ve got a copy of ncs expert/inpa on a laptop too (best).
If you just want to read codes, a generic obd2 reader will get the basics, but not everything (i.e. BMW specific codes won’t be on a generic reader). If you’re looking to do some simple coding, Carly can work, but is limited in scope.
If you’re anywhere near N Manchester & aren’t in a particular hurry to do it (I’m away with work atm), pm me if you want.
