If anyone working for a BMW outlet wants to sell me a service pack, I am here and waiting to pay

I have tried the 4 nearest dealerships to me so far and not a single one has called back in 48 hours

Before calling the 4th one, I wrote out what I was asking for on a card in front of me as a prompt, just in case the message I had left for the other 3 had gotten confused in my mind and, instead of asking someone to call me back to sell me a service pack, I had inadvertently asked for someone to call me back to sell me a moon on a stick

I know it isn't a lot of money, but it is there for the taking

Why? You realise its now only 3 years/36k miles and excludes the first brake fluid change. It's hard to see it adding up.

It's a shame as it used to be a great option.

When did they slip the brake fluid change out (was it ever in?)

It stopped when it went down to 3 years/36k from 5 years/50k on 1st Jan 2017.

Yes, it used to be a great thing to have!

When I got my 04 plate 320td in 2005 all diesel E46s were sold with them!

I replaced it in 2008 with a pre-reg 123d, and bought the pack for £660 before its 1st service was due. Got cover for 50K miles and 5 years - lovely!

I only ever paid for one service until I sold it after 6 and a bit years on 81K miles. And that service in 2013 cost £370 for oil and filter, brake fluid and an Insp 1! eek

Mind you Mrs Tidy did even better with her R56 Mini Cooper. She bought it new in 2006, and got the first 5 years for £100! Then they let her extend it for another 3 years - result!

But now it's only 3 years and 30K miles and excludes the brake fluid it doesn't look like it's worth having - unless it's really cheap now, which I doubt.

Still I run old petrol BMWs now and use a BMW Indy so the bills are lower, thankfully!

For my 299£ I’ll get, in total

2 oil / filter services 16,500 and 32,000 miles approx
1 Vehicle check @ about 32,000 Miles

Seems good value to me?

Not really - services are normally 19k apart (unless you thrash it and degrade the oil triggering cbs early) so you will probably get 1 service and one vehicle check which is about 350ish anyway

Servicing comes up every 18-20k or so, not 16k...

It is fairly close run thing now with it only being 3 years as to whether it would be worthwhile doing.

As said one oil service with oil,oil filter and microfilters will be similar money, the vehicle check could be the swinging bit there as that is about 70 quid.

It was much better as it originally on a service pack was 5 years or 60k, this changed a few years in to 5 years or 50k (to try and ensure that people did not get a third service out of it, some cars will, some simply won't).

I fall into the 50k category and it is going to be a tight run thing as to whether mine will fit another free service into that equation (and mostly only because my first service was at 13k).

I have paid for a few interim services though with just oil and oil filter to make me feel more comfortable as I don't fancy 18k oil.

Not for me, Mr. Fox.
1st oil service was 16,600 within a few hundred so technically due 17k but still easily 2 within the criteria.

Out of interest, any idea how I'd find out, for curiosity, how much an oil service / vehicle check would cost?

Not necessarily, but 16500 and 32000 is very low IME. My last BMW a 530d was well over 20k for its first service at just short of two years and the second at 39k or so at 3 yrs 9 months.

The service pack for that was £425 and covered both services and a brake fluid change. Wouldn't be worth the bother now.

go on bmw-service.co.uk enter a nonsense number plate and mileage and it will give you the opportunity to do the dropdown and select your vehicle.

I had this issue too. I must have phoned up more than 5 times before my service trying to purchase it. Every time there was some excuse - computer system down/trainee didn't know how to do it. In the end I spoke to a service manager who said it had to be done at least 1 week before the service (this was the day before the service), and agreed to knock the service price down in line with what I would have paid.

Nightmare.

I tried that, Ninja, picked a car from the approved used site with no service pack but no prices before making an enquiry frown

@MontyP, if you meant is my car new, bought March 2017

In that case it's probably had one service, and according to BMW you can only buy a Service Pack before it's had it's first service.

Used to be 5yrs and 60k

Then they dropped it to 50k which took out the third service which is normally around 52-54k

Mine has it .. had two services and brake fluid out of it .. and the car is three years old now on 44k and showing 8k to the next service, which as they restrict you from doing them early I won’t get in

3/36 probably wouldn’t be worth it now esp as brake fluid is 36 months so not sure if they’d cover that

Mine was included with the car so it was a result

5 years or 60k would be great.

But 5 years or 50k (which I think it was until end of 2016) if that was 425£ then no advantage for me over my 3 years or 36k for 299£

I’d breach the 50k threshold within 3 years anyway (during which time I’d got 2 oil services and the vehicle check) so at the best I’d be paying the the extra 126£ for a third oil service if I’d squeeze that in.

Brake fluid wouldn’t be due anyway.

Numbers didn't add up to be worth it when I bought my X5 in March last year, although, given the change in my driving now, looking at it, I might now have got that 2nd service in within the 3 years, so taking the 3 year service pack would have saved me the cost of a service.

Hey ho..........

My 123d got serviced at 18K, 36K and 54K on the old 5 years/60K service pack.

It's next one for oil and filter, brake fluid and Insp 1 cost about £370 at a main agent.

But you could always call for a quote - it will vary according to what you have and what it needs!
