Stunning old 7 series
Discussion
Whilst in Bath last night i stumbled upon two young lads photographing a stunning 7 series.
Always fancied one to go along side my e39. Got chatting and he said "It's only a 728i". So what, it looks fabulous.
Of course after 10 minutes chatting, the missus gave me "the look". Wonder if anyone knows this car...

E38. Shame about the comically oversized wheels and slammed suspension.
Agreed. Some good original examples here http://www.gmscars.co.uk/bmw_740i_grey_21k_e38.htm...
It still bothers me that the 728i gets a bad rap. I had one, as well as a 740, and it is unfairly maligned.
As an all round car, it was superb. A super-smooth 6 cylinder that is as frugal as it is refined and has enough pep to deal with the vast majority of driving situations. You could sit at motorway speeds with a low revving engine and enjoy a quiet conversation.
It didn’t hitch up it’s skirt as quickly as the 740 but the reality is that it didn’t have too. It’s a 7 series and is a more sedate place to be.
That said, I did turn hooligan in it and it proved to be just as capable on the Nordschleife as it was on the daily commute. Cocking it’s leg a Castle Donington and dispatching actual ‘track cars’ proved to be an eye-opener for many, too.
Brilliant cars and I still miss mine to this day.
