Swap my 2004 Jag xk8 for a BMW E39 540i or E38 740i?

First question is should I get rid of the Jag at all for either one of these options?

But the main question is, E38 7 series (probably 740i based on what's available), or E39 5 series? (Possibly a 540i but could be as pedestrian as a 525i)

Any opinions much appreciated. Approx market value of the Jag is £10-14k if that helps.

Jaguar XK8 is gorgeous but a rust bucket especially subchassis at the front and a generation behind in terms of refinement. As a weekend car 4 door saloons can't touch it for the sense of occasion though.

Why change? Why not XK instead? Another sure classic.

It's a great spec and I've spent around £7k on sorting it out over the last 3 years. So yes I think that's about right. Why are you saying that seems cheap or expensive?

I've changed the v-mounts and all necessary bits, not a spec of rust on the car. As for the new XK, it's a beautiful car, but I just don't love it in the same way that I love the 96-06 xk8's. Also I don't think they are as reliable.
