Any recommendations for a removal towbar for a 335XD F30?

I've just rung BMW and they want £2500 +vat. I had to check I had the right number of zeros in that answer!

Apparently its controlled by a button on the tailgate which makes it appear and disappear. Fancy but honestly it would be cheaper to just buy the trailer its own towcar!!

The electric folding ones are nice, but not nessecary.

I think Westfalia are the OEM brand for regular, detachable tow bars if you want to buy and fit yourself. I got one for my X5 from pfjones (was cheaper on eBay than their website).

Wiring can be a pain. Get a proper car specific kit, it does all the fancy stuff to disable the parking sensors, adjust the traction control, and throws up a warning on the dash if a bulb is blown on the light bar etc. None of that stuff works with the universal wiring kits.

Older car but I fitted a swan neck tow bar to my e91 a few years back for the cost of the second hand tow bar and electronics. £130, I took me 3 hours.

I was quoted £1800 by BMW

That's why I ordered the factory fitted towbar on my X5, as at 900 squids it was a bargain compared to the dealerfit price...........which was as you quote...and no more than what a fixed aftermarket one would be.

As other poster said, you can go fixed aftermarket, but make sure you get the car specific fitting kit.

Westfalia is what BMW fit. They probably outsource the work and cream the profit.
It’s not difficult. I’d take that option.
