I have purchased some winter wheels and tyres for my f31. Looking at the tapered stud holes for the wheels will I be able to use my alloy wheel nuts or will I need different ones? (See pic)
Cheers

BMW would be nuts if that was indeed so.

Bolts/nuts whatever.....

Can I use the existing alloy ones since the steels have a seat for the tapered type ones or do I need specific ones for steels?

Of course you can reuse them. The bolts are tapered, shared by many, if not all, BMW models/wheels.

Sorry but no.

I'm assuming the OP's current wheels are alloys - this picture clearly shows a steel wheel.

You'll need to get the correct wheel bolts for use with steel wheels.
DO NOT use the original wheel bolts for your alloy wheels on these steel wheels - EDIT - without checking with BMW first.

Apparently some alloy wheel bolts can be used with steel wheels, but some can't.

Looks fine to me, you can get steel wheels designed for the same bolts as alloy wheels, you don't get a set of different bolts with your spare do you.

The wheel bolt is M14X1.25:

http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/36136781151/

It is shared by all Fxx models cars (as well as i3 and i8) - both steel and alloy wheels. If you scroll down the list of all models is there. M's included.(Fxx models)

The old M12x1.5 bolt is shared across the E model range.
