I have the green flashing light on my 2004 545 indicating a malfunction with the adaptive headlights. Would a diagnostic check indicate what was at fault.

Does your iDrive not tell you what's failed?

Are all the bulbs lit when you switch the headlights on; what about all the rear bulbs, sidelights and fog lights too?

Just trying to rule out a simple blown bulb that's possibly triggered this etc

No blown bulbs. Headlights do not appear to be moving.

Wonder if the adjusters have failed?

Are you able to remove them and have a look inside them?

Have you unplugged the battery & seen if the issue clears on reset?

Will there be any issues with disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it? Will I need diagnostic equipment?

No. It won’t fix the problem though.

Nope, no issues

But think you need to get the error codes read to see what it points to?

Do you have access to a decent code reader etc?

I’d highly recommend the Carly for BMW app (iOS or Android) and their OBDII dongle.

Seems expensive initially, but they do come in handy, more so as you can start to code things on your own car also!
