BMW 5 series F10 B47 engine

I’m looking at getting a 520d. I was informed that 65 plate onwards cars have the B47 engine as a replacement for the N47.

Any common faults with the B47 ?

EGR issues, some will be on possibly the 3rd.

They also are part of the current technical campaign if memory serves to do with the EGR Cooler issues.

Many also find that they are not as efficient as the N47.

Other bits that have potential question marks over is that the physical chain is the same as the final versions on the N47, along with the oil sprayer, tensioners and a few guides. Long term there is still these question marks, so change the oil every 9-10k if you are keeping it....
