335i - Fuel Gauge Issue

Hi All,

Went to the petrol pump the other day as the reserve light popped on so I topped up £35 with Tesco Momentum (only ever use that or V Power), sat in the car and the petrol gauge didnt move an inch.

I Drive showed the same info as if I hadn't put any petrol in.

Tesco said fuel was definitely added to the car.

So I drove off and the needle started to creep up as well as the I Drive range.

Any idea why this is? Never happened before.

Not unusual, I’ve heard of this before. It often takes a full tank or at least a good proportion to get the gauge to register quickly.

911s are particularly known for this because of the saddle tank but I understand it’s not uncommon elsewhere.

I had this happen to one of the Bmw's I've had, I can't remember which one it was though, but it did eventually go back to normal. It baffled me at first too.

Had exactly the same with my ‘07 335i
