Advice on 6 series Gran Coupe in UK
Discussion
Looking to replace my 5 series with a 640d with something 1.5 - 2yrs old. Lack of lumbar support on my current car is a big factor so would be looking for a car with comfort seats. Anyone out there able to provide advice on options to look out for or things to consider and realistic prices and discounts to expect from BMW dealers? Any feedback would be welcome,
I got a AUC one six months ago. Didn't get much more than 1k off sticker price at the time. I did a bit of shopping around and found it difficult to get significant movement from advertised price, but px value was good.
Mine is m sport spec and there are more controls for the back of the seat than I have ever come across so I'd be hopeful if I were you of being able to get a comfortable seating position.

I had a 640d for a couple of years. They come pretty well specced as standard, but the following are good to have:
- Surround view camera: it's a big car, and it's really handy to have the all-round view from the cameras as you sit quite low. Same goes for the rear camera, although thankfully the front and rear parking sensors are standard.
- Comfort seats: really good, really adjustable. Much more comfy for me than the sports seats I had in my 5 series prior.
- M Sport Plus package: adds 20" wheels, Harmon Kardon stereo, speed limit display and head-up display. Nice options, especially if you like music. More a really nice to have than an absolute necessity.
- Variable Damper Control (VDC) if you like to have some control over the ride; mine had standard M-Sport suspension which was fine.
- Nappa leather feels nicer than the Dakota leather (as you'd expect). Merino even better still, but seems to be a rare option.
- Digital cockpit I think is standard from the facelift (mid 2015-ish onwards)
When on a test drive, check for wheel vibration at around 60-80mph. Some cars seem to be susceptible to this.
These cars depreciate hard, so haggle hard!

I would disagree on depreciating hard no one paid list on them so the loss to the original owner.- Surround view camera: it's a big car, and it's really handy to have the all-round view from the cameras as you sit quite low.
