Brakes & Suspension
Discussion
Hi all,
I have a couple of questions....
Does anyone here have recommendations for a quality brake disc and pad upgrade for an E90 335i? I must admit I'm a sucker for the cross-drilled disc look, but I know there is potential for issues with cracking and whatnot - is it a given that cracking will ensue, or is it overblown like so much on the forums?
I'm after an OE-quality disc and a set of pads that have excellent initial bite and could stand up to half a dozen laps around a track. For the discs, I am thinking Zimmerman - either the blanks or the drilled version (hopefully the quality would prevent cracking if I go down that route?) but on the pad side of things, I don't know much. I like the idea of a good brand like Ferodo or Pagid, but there are others around too such as Hawk and EBC. Does anyone have any good recommendations?
Lastly, I'd like to round off the suspension and braking of the car, but I'm not sure where to go next. As it stands, the car has a B12 kit (with top mounts and mounting hardware all replaced), M3 front arms, and new tie rods to freshen it up. Nothing has been done at the rear other than the B12 components. As a first step I am thinking of replacing all sway bar drop links as I've heard when they are worn it can add quite a bit of slop.
Lastly, the Eibach swaybar kit with the 28mm front bar and 15mm rear bar is interesting - it seems like an upgrade without going overboard, and should work well with the B12 kit,
I don't think I'll go to the extent of an LSD as it's a fair amount of coin, so outside of that, is there anything you would all recommend doing?
Many thanks,
RD
