Hi All,

Does anybody know what the minor service cost is for the above cost?

We purchased the car brand new (pre-reg) and have done 7600 miles.

The service indicator has come on and BMW want to charge £319 for an oil and filter change.

Should I try another dealership or is this normal for a minor service?

If you pay a few quid more than that you can get a 3 year service pack:

Does nobody use Google any more?

Thanks Timbo, I did google and look on the BMW website but couldn't get the answer I was looking for.

A service pack seems much better!

Double check it hasn't got the Service Pack if you haven't already. So many of them seem to have it included these days, most dealers add it to the invoice unless you ask for it to be removed.

I dont think the service pack is the nobrainer it used to be - although its slightly fishy you're triggering a service so soon in terms of miles so I assume your car is now at the 2y old point having sat idle for several months?? In which case do your own research and the SP may in fact be worthwhile

Anyway Im a bit of an expert on 3 series 1st services having tried to book one last week

Locally its 210 for an oil service or 330 for oil plus microfilter

One receptionist said I didnt need the microfilter - yay happy days - but the other dealer insisted it was mandated. The handbook isnt clear and as the car is leased I didnt want to take chances so booked with the second on the grounds they seemed to know what they were talking about and I could claw some cash back by supplying my own oil which they were happy for me to do but still havent got back to me with a discounted price or what grade of oil they want me to bring.

Ive never done the oil thing before but was annoyed that after Id booked it in I was told there was an extra £29 charge for "scoping" and I couldnt have a courtesy car as theres an 8 week waiting list - which is just fking great on condition based servicing as I was never exactly sure when Id trigger the service until the light went on

Cheers
