Hi, my remote fob has stopped working, I have to open the car using the key blade, but the car still registers the key once it’s been inserted into the slot. Searched online and seems to be the diversity antenna, my problem is locating the antenna on the car. I’ve not got a clue where to find it. If anyone can help that would be great thanks.

I had to replace mine as the radio stopped working every time I turned the heated rear window on. It's under the high level brake light housing.

Had this on my E91.

On that it was under the little "spoiler" above the rear windscreen. Easy enough to get through. Pop the hatch part (the glass part) of the tailgate. You should be able to figure it out from there. It's under a black plastic cover with a rubber seal. Mine was damaged from water ingress. Simply replaced it with some extra silicone sealant around the seal and the problem went away.

The symptoms i had were the same as you describe.

As the other post, E90 is under the third brake light.

Grab the housing and pull it off, then two T20 screws removes it.

I’ve only just got the car, and that was the only issue it’s really got, demister is working, well kinda seems to take its time, will test the radio function later to see if that still working I tried the demister a little bit and it was working but didn’t have it on long enough to see how well it worked, will check the wires when I get back from work thanks

Does your central locking work on the interior lock button next to the hazard light switch? If it doesn’t, then it’s not the diversity module. It will be a lock on its way out and a fuse blown

just found the antenna, I tested the FM radio and it works perfectly fine. Haven’t tested the demister as I didn’t drive it, the wiring loom I’ll have to look at in daylight but a bit confused how I take the rubber off and it’s on quite tight, will probably order the antenna anyway as I’ve found one for £15 so let’s see how it goes

The interior lock button works, I checked all the fuses linked with the locking system all are fine,

Just received and installed the new antenna and still didn’t work checked the wires from from the car through the tailgate and all look fine, I’ve found a key repair service online so going to send the key off. Hopefully that should do the trick.

They changed the battery, buttons and tested all the components on the circuit board I think the transponder too, so I know at least my key is functioning

I had this issue on an E91 I had years ago and turned out to be the wires between the main body and the boot hatch, the protective sleeve looked good but when I pulled that back I found loads of wires either completely broken or on the way through, I repaired them all and covered them in insulation tape to add extra support and it lasted for the next 6 months or so I owned the car but no idea what happened from there
