Software update,advice please

Hello all.....have tried to update the software on my 2016 430d but need some help please.

Logged onto BMW connected page,entered the 7 digit VIN and then downloaded the update.

I then get this file ....which doesn’t seem to be recognized by windows,nor me for that matter.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

You're supposed to put the file as it is on a USB stick and put the stick into the glovebox USB port. Good luck if this works for you it doesn't for me. I've tried 3 different USB sticks (all USB2, all small sizes) and all give me an error in iDrive and no update. There must be a trick to the USB stick or the formatted drive type (tried FAT, FAT32 etc). Other people seem to have no trouble so give it a try. If your iDrive can work with the file then it will apply the update. Caveat emptor on the result of that though!

If only someone would invent a web site where you could type in a random question & (virtually) instantly get the answer, how good would that be?

You could even call it google or something random like that.



Seriously though, there is only one thing that needs to recognise it & it certainly isn't a windows PC, it is your car.

Should have Googled it,but thought I’d try the knowledge in this forum....am grateful for your replies though.
