Cat S - BMW warranty still possible?

My car was written off earlier this year and now it's finally almost back on the road (yay)! It was under BMW Insured Warranty and they've sent through a very good renewal price of just under £1k. But is it still possible to apply the warranty to a car that's been written off? I called them and they said it wasn't possible, but would they really know/check when it came to a claim?

Presumably, if you identified the vehicle when calling them they'd know now?
I was told by a technician with the recovery team that the BMW Insured warranty claims are the ones always checked thoroughly and that's been my experience with my local dealer/s so I'd wager a good chance it'd get checked.
