E91 battery change without re-code to car

Hope some one can advise

I'm currently at my brothers 300 miles from home. It looks like the battery is about to fail on my E91. It is the original battery so is 12 years old, not too bad really. I've got a new battery from ECP and can change it easily but can't get the car coded for a new battery until I get home to our local independent. Does anyone know if it's ok to run the car with a new battery for a few days, does it really matter or should I risk it and try the old one to get home?

Any advise would be greatly accepted

It’ll be fine for a few days. Don’t forget to fit the vent hose to the new battery.
