I get a message popping up saying check Drivetrain when I turn off my 2011 520D

I took it to BMW for a trade in and they connected it to their computer and the error is as follows:

Code 25DB00 - Exhaust back pressure sensor upstream or diesel particulate filter, signal: Short circuit to B+

I have checked everywhere but can't find any posts for this code. The sales guy at BMW said it may need a DFP clean or replacement

Has anyone had any experience with this issue?

The following system is fitted to your car to measure the pressure differential across the DPF. In order to monitor the DPF flow capacity there are pressure sensors before and after the DPF measuring the exhaust gas pressure, and you can calculate the flow by comparing the difference in the pressures. You need to do the following:
1. Check the sensor isn’t broken, or the pressure pipe feeding the sensor isn’t blocked if not go to 2
2. Clean or replace the DPF.

First one is a lot easier than the second fix. Do you do a lot of short journeys in your car?

Maybe the sensor wire has a short to battery positive? Or the sensor is faulty.

It will be the sensor - they short circuit internally. If u don’t replace it soon then you will start blocking up ur dof

Appreciate all the responses!

I can't find the DPF sensor on the model I have, there is an oxygen and temperature sensor but nothing listed for DPF
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=FW11-...

I found a DPF sensor which seems to be listed only on the LCI model (Differential pressure sensor Part # 13628570686)
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=5E51-...

Would anyone know which one I need to look at?

Thanks Elliot
Is it much work to replace this part?
I see they sell Hella sensors in the UK for 21 pounds and they are generally over $200 here, have you seen this issue before?

It’s only a ten minute job, have a look on your and make sure u have the version with the single bit of pipe going to it and not the twin pipe version.

Single pipe used to go wrong fairly often , when u have it off, blow down that pipe to make sure it isn’t blocked
