Hi Guys,

My E60 has developed this really annoying rattle coming from the front drivers side, its like a tinny metal rattle when driving over rough or uneven surfaces however it goes away when I brake firmly, if I brake lightly the noise persists. its not exhaust related.

The wheel bearing has been changed and the disc back plate has been removed but it is still there, the anti rattle clips are also still in place and the overall condition of the brakes are fine, my mechanic says all bushings are ok, its going back to the mechanic for the 4th saturday in row tomorrow but we both have no idea what it is, can someone please help as its really annoying

Thanks

Brake pads? Are they the right ones/right size? Sometimes cheap pads are poorly made and they rattle in the caliper

Hi All,

So after a few Saturdays of swapping out parts the rattle is still there, I have so far changed the front anti roll bar bushings, front control arms, front brake pads, front droplinks and front tie rods both inner and outer

Im starting to think its in the steering rack cause when I pull the wheel at 3 and 9 there is a knock coming from the arm of the steering rack that the tie rod connects to, over the past few weeks the car has started to pull to the left and has wheel wobble from 60mph upwards, I have also noticed it knocks when the steering wheel is turned quickly from left to right, below is a video I took today

Any help is greatly appreciated

That's either the rack, or a track rod inner end. Not uncommon on these. Pray you don't have active steering!
