Can anyone help? Friend has disconnected the battery from his 59 plate 3 series ( battery is in the boot) and closed it. There is now seemingly no way of opening the car without some costly intervention 😂😂 Does anyone know any way of him accessing the motor to reinstate new battery? Bmw can’t help!

Can you use the key to open the door, pop the bonnet, then connect jump leads/running car to the jump points under the bonnet to give the car juice to open the boot?
No idea if this would work or not, just a thought.

Edit to add.. Just incase he doesn't know, the plastic key fob has a pull out key in the base.

As above, there are jump points under the bonnet. Can’t you connect another car battery to these ?

If you connect a battery or jump pack to the terminals under the bonnet, will it not provide power to open the boot?

As has been said twice above just open the door with the key, open the bonnet & put a set of jump leads on the jump posts, simples!

There is a plastic disc on the outside of the boot, if you pop it off there is a key slot underneath it.

Slide the emergency key from the fob and unlock the boot, its a old fashioned mechanical lock that doesnt need power.

Says he’s tried to jump and doesn’t work. No battery so no power? Tried several times. 2009 doesn’t have lock either.

It is a E90 yes?

As previously mentioned, remove plastic disc to access lock and use key from keyfob.

More detail in the owners manual if required.

Locked my keyfob in my e90 lci once, thought no problem and got my dad to bring my spare, only to find the fob had no battery, used this method to retreive fob from boot.

It makes no sense because the positive battery terminal is connected directly to the jump point under the bonnet. The negative terminal is directly wired to the chassis.

So, connecting a battery (probably not a 12v supply unless it's hefty) between the jump point and somewhere sensible on the engine would be exactly the same as having a battery connected up normally.

Unless he left the positive battery terminal touching the metal chassis in the boot...?

The battery doesn't need to be connected, you are powering up the car wiring with the battery/jump pack connected to the engine end of the same wire that the battery would be connected to in the boot.
