Service reset problem.

Hi everyone, I have bought a 08 123d that has been neglected. The service oil change light is on with-10000 next to it. I have repeatedly followed the reset procedures on YouTube but with no success. I’ve even accessed the hidden menu and unlocked the computer. My question is, is it the fact that the last time it was reset was 17000 miles ago and has this fault been latched? Am I right and if so what can I do? I have an obd2 and have tried resetting this too.
I’m baffled!
