I just had my 2015 335d remapped by Celtic tuning and put on a rolling road. It had no mods before that and I have had it from new. BHP went from 302.8bhp to 411.3bhp. Tourque when from 690.3nm to 879.5nm. Although I am pleased, I'm a bit concerned this is over the limits of the gearbox. Any technical thoughts on this? I have tried to upload the graph with it...not sure if it worked.

Hi mate sorry unfortunately I dont have answer to your question but I want to ask you few questions regarding your remap.

I have had my previous cars done with celtic tuning before and generally they felt quick but never had it dyno'd as each time it was done in front of my house instead of one of their dealers location.

What I wanted to ask you is, was the remap done on the dyno (custom map) or was it mobile as in they come to you? Also is the dyno from an independent garage or celtic tunings own dyno?

The numbers sound amazing but I agree that the torque numbers does sound abit too much over the limit of the gearbox.

Im planning to get my 335d remapped soon but havent made a decision on where to get it done yet.

Oh and how does the car feel now compare to stock?

The time to worry about the extra torque was before the remap, not after.

As I have said in another post, the increased power will only be achieved at the top end of the rev range, but torque will be available, and used, from about 1300 rpm on, and if you are the sort of person to have a remap, you will be accessing that higher torque nearly all the time.

750nm is meant to be the sensible limit for the gearbox and the level to which most reputable tuners will take it before warning you of a substantially increased risk

However rolling roads can pretty much give you any figure they like because its a calculation based on some very dubious maths

As long as you trust them to apply the same calculation before and after then pretty much the change is all you can go on.

Well over the limits for the gearbox, and the engine too, i shouldn't wonder.

IF the figures are accurate............

Celtic Tuning couldn’t map their way out of a paper bag.

Had two cars that they mapped before I purchased. First a PD150 Leon Cupra FR, with 203bhp and can’t recall torque. But power was higher than anyone believed possible on the stock turbo and clutch was killed in weeks. My mate had owned it from new and was only 3yrs /30k.

Second car was a Megane R26. Bad fuelling. Missfire near the limiter. ECU was locked. When I asked about bigger injectors, etc. they said that no more power could be achieved on the stock turbo. Their map was on a stock car.

I’d get your car mapped somewhere reputable for your marque. Where are you based?

Hi Sorry for the late responses back to this. Piston heads stopped new people from posting for a while "due to abuse...."

- The map was not a custom one just the standard celtic map.
- It was put on at one of there tuning centers not a mobile one.
- I spoke with Celtic tuning and they agreed that it was probably the dyno that was reading high. The figures should be aorund 400bhp and 770nm and they say thats what mine will be putting out in reality.

After having it now for a few months I can report that that overall experince and power is out of this world. It is fueld to perfection. I have noticed a 2mpg increase when I did a very controlled long motorway run pre and post map. Went from 40.1mpg to 42.1mpg when I set it to cruse control over 140 iles round trip with no traffic. I keep an eye on the tourque meter on the sports display to see when it goes over the 770nm and it never has. Only if you spank it full throttle does it ever go anywhere near that figure so I am conviced now that gearbox longgevity will come down to how hard you dirve it and how often and not the map as most of the time I use 80bhp and 200nm when crusing on he motorway which makes up almost all the driving I do.

Anytime, in any gear, on any road, level or incline, if you push the throttle down it will reach max torque - it is very easy to achieve.

A question, as the digital performance dials on iDrive only show up to 320ps as standard, how do they adjust for the (now) extra power.

Why the remap, if you mostly do motorway driving? A-road overtakes yes, but M-ways?

After the map the sports display changed to 400 bhp and 800nm.

Got the map to save fuel and to have a ballistic missile when I want to which is really nice. I can flick between good fuel consumption crusing mode and crazy super car mode. What other car can do that 😀

It does make you wonder why people pay twice the price for an M3 doesn't it.

It cost £280 but that included a hyrdoflow which they knocked down from £90 to £30 as it was already on th Dyno.

Yes about the M3, I drove a friend's one and was surprised by the power only when you drove it hard. Mine gives that power all the time in almost every gear...as soon as you push the throttle you are off like a bullet. Love it.

My M6 can!

It’s just that the cruising mode fuel consumption is still really st on fuel. wink

You're definately not the first I've heard say (write) that.

As the saying goes, you get what you pay for, and the OP has got exactly that.
