Wondering if anyone could share any light.

Recently purchased a 320d F30 with 55k on the clock.

Every now and again when I’m driving, mainly on the motorway, the steering feels like it’s fighting against me, also it’s as if I’m driving in very strong winds and sways slightly in the road. Doesn’t feel very stable when driving at all

Let’s hope this isn’t a costly problem! Any help would be great. Thank you

Is it on runflat tyres? I drive a similar model myself and I have noticed something like you describe.

F30's eat steering racks, a common problem. It wants checking a bit sharpish.

I had this in my E91, that bad boy did not like lane 1 of motorways where the truckies drive. Tramlined like a right bd and found myself fighting it sometimes.

What tyres you running mate? Had mine looked over yesterday and was told it was more than likely the fact I’m not running run flats. Had the tracking checked and it was spot on, wheel balancing fine... so we put it down to the cars suspension being set up for the heavier type run flat tyre

My car is the "Efficient Dynamics" version which means that everything is tweaked for maximum economy, including the tyres. It came from the factory with slightly old-fashioned 205/60/16 Michelin Energy tyres (non run flat). Since then I have changed to Bridgestone Driveguard run flat tyres in the same size. I sometimes notice a slight swaying motion on the motorway that is not bad enough to be noticed by passengers. Every now and then, maybe once in a journey I have to turn the wheel about one or two inches to correct the steering. I don't remember gerring that with the Michelins but I could be wrong.
