can I start a new thread?

Firstly to say how delighted I have been with mine. 2.8 on a 1999 on v plate. Bought with 123,000 miles for less than £3000

I think valus are increasing on these larger engined models.

Everything works and body is clean and almost rust free. It has E36 19" wheels which are the same width front and back so the back are on 10cm spacers

I have two issues though, one is the steering appears to wander on poor surfaces and can be alarming at times. I have yellow polybushes on the front that has stiffended it up and assume the big wheels will not help but any ideas?

Secondly, the outward camber on the rear wheels is excessive where I'm afraid of inner edge tyre wear. I am thinking about fitting a camber correction kit which involves dropping out the rear assembly to fit. Has anyone done this?

So, wider wheels, wrong offset, spacers, and incorrect alignment...and you're asking why it feels twitchy and is eating the inner tread.

How about getting somewhere to set it all up properly for you?

The E36 never came with 19" wheels, even on the M3 version - The largest wheels for the E36 were 17".

19" wheels on the 3 series came in with the E46 M3 (it came with the option of 18" or 19"-As the saying goes: "19's for show, 18's for go"). The biggest wheel for the "lesser" E46 models was 18".

Basically, your car's been made non-standard by a previous owner, and as often happens when owners make their cars non-standard, they completely fcensoredk the car up! (especially if they've used cheap parts)

Thanks for the comments. I thought I had the source of the wheels wrong. They look good though!

has anyone any experience with fitting the camber correction kits to the rear wheel assembly? It would seem a good idea to get them vertical and true.

Put the proper wheels back on it. It won't drive like a skateboard then.
