Hi all,
A month ago, I bought my BMW (2018 pre-reg) X3 X Drive M Sport 20d which had only 38 miles on the clock.
Since then I started getting tyre pressure warning on one tyre (rear driver side). Pumped it back to normal for the 3rd time now. Planning to take it to the dealer to get it checked.
BUT I noticed the car’s run flat tyres are all slightly different from each other.
I have got,
Front:
245/45/R20/103W - Driver side
245/45/R20/103 - Passenger side
Rear:
275/40/R20/103W - Driver side
275/40/R20/106W - Passenger side
Rear tyre width is higher than the front, which is fine. And I heard it is normal for BMWs.
But the Load indexes & the speed ratings are all different from each other. Is it normal for the manufacturer to fit different tyre specs in the same car like this? Or is there something dodgy here?
Any thoughts? Thanks

Could be that the tyres were fitted from different sources, either way I certainly wouldn't expect it of a new car, I assume you have had the car from new & they haven't been changed?

However with 38 miles on the clock, one or more could easily have been damaged between delivery & collection by you.

Thanks. No, I haven't changed anything since buying it. And as per the differences I have stated, it looks like there are 2 odd tyres in here.

Not happy & didn't expect this in a new car.

Need to ask the question now.

Presumably they are all the same make and tread pattern?

The one with, apparently, no load rating seems odd. It must be there somewhere you’d think. Are you sure it’s not somewhere else on the tyre?

The difference between 103 and 106 is quite a bit but they’re both very heavy tyres and probably both within spec but I wouldn’t be happy with a new car like that.

Especially considered the well documented vagaries of xDrive.

No, it is not normal at all. I would expect them all to match. In production the wheel and tyre would be assembled together off-line by automation and fed into the production line in a just-in-time fashion, so they would fully matching across axle. I would complain.

Apologies to all of you!!!
I just checked again (I had taken photos last night & they are not that clear...should have double checked!).

I had misread. And the correct readings are:

Front:
245/45/R20/103W - Driver side
245/45/R20/103W - Passenger side
Rear:
275/40/R20/106W - Driver side
275/40/R20/106W - Passenger side

They are Pirelli P Zeros. So the rear tyre are wider (275) than the front. I assume this is OK.

So I guess there is no problem after all!

I feel so silly - Sorry frown
Thanks all to those who responded...

The OP has cleared it up anyway, but not seeing that, they all have load ratings (103/106) however one didn't have a speed rating.

Yes, of course.
