BMW i8 Stickier Rubber
Discussion
Looking for some advice essentially. My i8 runs 215/45R20 front tyres and 245/40R20 rear tyres, so very unusual sizes. I'd like to fit some stickier tyres (not quite R888s but maybe something like AD08Rs) and don't really know where to look to get something like that. Tried Camskill and Blackcircles and the options are limited at that size
From what I've read, I could go up to 245 width on the front tyres and maybe a bit wider again on the rears. Obviously I wouldn't want to change my OD too much so not really sure what to go for.
I last bought tyres about 6 years ago and that was a direct swap

The tyre to structure clearance depends on what the manufacturer has allowed for. Sometimes there is allowance for snow chain clearance, that may not be so in this case. The clearance is usually considered for the worse suspension geometry case, backlock-rebound usually, if my memory serves me right. You need to ask, or try to put the car into all those situations of front/back lock, jounce/rebound.

From what I've read on the i8 the front wheels will take a 245mm width tyre without clearance issues. I'm offshore at the moment so can't have a good look at mineGassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
