2015 530d main dealer cost for front and rear pads?
Discussion
Just curious if anyone knows roughly how much a dealer would want for front and rear pads on a 2015 530d touring.
it's in for service (free) next week, and mot and an emergency recall. iDrive says 3000 miles or less on both front and rear pads so i know they'll try and get them done at the same time. Im guessing they'll want about £350?
Also (its years since ive had to do brakes on cars), are discs not changed either? Theres no judder or vibration, everything feels fine with the brakes, would it be acceptable to leave the original discs on? the car has only done 24,000 miles since new.

I paid 300 today for OE equivalent front and rear pads on my 320d which has smaller brakes today from a specialist, and I think I was quoted 260 just for the fronts from bmw. So the bigger brakes of the 530d is be thinking circa 500 plus from a dealer.it's in for service (free) next week, and mot and an emergency recall. iDrive says 3000 miles or less on both front and rear pads so i know they'll try and get them done at the same time. The car is getting on a bit now so it might be worth just getting any decent independent to change the pads as it won’t really affect resale value.
My Mini Cooper the other day needed new rear pads and a new rear caliper and it was £40 labour and £12 for the pads with a discount code plus £40 for the caliper with new sliders.
So it should cost you about £150 fitted I would of thought but I would be shopping around.

Hi, try https://www.bmw-service.co.uk/ . This gives you BMW value price servicing for cars over 3 years old. My 2015 430d had the rear pads done last week and I was charged £204. I had the front pads and discs done about 18 months ago and paid around £450.
Premium Brembo brand pads for your car are £87.
My Indy charges half an hour at £55/hr to change front pads. On a 15 plate I might ask them to change the brake fluid for the first time whilst they are working on the brakes.
The last thing I’d do is pay main dealer rates and OEM part prices. The discs will be fine. My first set did 110,000 miles.

I wouldn’t even let the car go in before having a couple of wheels off and physically measuring the pads.
When I sold my 530d a year or so ago, just after its second service at 41k miles, none of the pads needed changing. A full year before that, at about 29k miles the OBC was telling me they all had 8000 left.
When it went in for its service at 41k the OBC was saying 2800 miles for all.
Now before it went in I had measured them and they were only just over half worn. (All the original pad and disc thicknesses are available on line). Nowhere near needing changing.
I was half expecting to be told they should be changed because of the OBC reading but I wasn’t. The service tech actually measured them slightly thicker than I did, confirmed the OBC was wrong, and adjusted it back to 11000.
The OBCs aren’t known for their accuracy at all and new pads at 24k seems unlikely to me.
But unless you have absolute trust in your dealer, I would say forewarned is forearmed.
