First post here but been lurking around for a while.

Looking to finally upgrade my E90 320i and the car I've had my eye on for a while now is the 340i.
A couple of things I wanted to find out about and was hoping someone here could clarify:

- what's the name of the option to get the "Digital Cockpit" added to the car?
- what's the difference between the Shadow Edition M Sport and the non-Shadow Edition?
- will the MPPSK fit on all 340i's or only up until a certain manufacturer year? I recall reading somewhere that cars manufactured after 2017 we no longer compatible with the current MPPSK?

Thanks,
Sunny

Digital cockpit is exactly that. Can also get it as part of various packages.

Shadow Edition is basically old M Sport Plus pack (larger brakes, wheels, H/k) plus has darkened lights and black kidney grille.

MPPSK fits all models of F3x with B58M

Thanks Mr Flibble!
What other packages contain the digital cockpit?

I have a 340i Touring with MPPSK and absolutely love it.. I'm pretty sure that and 340's built after June 2018 have the new emissions mod and are not

compatible with the MPPSK kit, which is a shame as it is one of the best options you can get, Mine doesn't have the digital dash but it looks amazing and

would love it on my car, My advice would be to be patient and try to get one with all the options you want, Msport plus pack or Shadow edition come well

specced and are worth getting if you can, overall they are a superb car great fun to drive.

Hmm actually turns out that the MPPSK might not be compatible with vehicles that have the PPF exhaust to meet latest Euro standards (> July 2018) - I didn't realise that!

As for the packages that come with the digital cockpit, I believe these ones do:
Media pack - Professional - 3 Series with Digital cockpit
Media pack - Professional plus - 3 Series with Digital cockpit

The Digital Cockpit itself is only a £295 option though!

Yeah that's what I thought I read on PH a while ago.
I'll likely be in the market for one in a month or so, looking at getting a test drive booked in soon.

I wouldn't get too caught up on the digital cockpit, it's not all that really.

It's nice, and relatively smart, but it's not like Audi's digital cockpit of that generation. I initially wanted it, but after test driving cars with and without, and having a friend with an M2 with the digital dash, I'm don't feel I'm missing out not having it.

MPPSK on the other hand is amazing.

If you want 4 doors don't ignore the 4 GC either. Higher spec as standard than the 3, plus way more practical with the hatch boot. Then again I'm slightly biased!

I’ve got pro media but not the digi dash...

Correct about PPSK not being compatible with builds after June - mines a Nov ‘18 Shadow Ed (Touring) and can’t fit.

Overall car is good but hasn’t blown me away. As a do it all family wagon it’s pretty spot on though.

The media (iPhone) integration drives me mental!! Can’t for the life of me work out how to just hop in and play Audible or Deezer straight off the iDrive with phone hooked up to Bluetooth. I end up going round in circles between the ‘onboard’ apps and ‘DoubleSixs iPhone’, when I do get it to work there’s no chapter info or place holding. Any tips welcome!!

I like the Digital dash overall, but its not in the same league as the VAG offering.
I'm not keen on the Sport speedo and rev counter display - too Playstation for an old fart like me.
Coming from a 3 series E91 Touring, the 4 Gran Coupe is cavernous!

Was at the preview event for the new 3 series and Z4 at my local showroom (Barons Farnborough) and the digital cockpit in the new 330i looked phenomenal! Having done a bit more digging around, it does seem quite rare to find a 340i with the DC specced. And for around £1300 retrofit, I don’t want it that bad!

Same goes for the apple car play. Would be nice to have, but as long as I can hook my phone up via the Bluetooth and play Spotify on the phone with the sound piped through the speakers, that’ll be job done as far as I’m concerned.

I’ve got a test drive in a 340i booked in this Sunday at Marshall’s Hampshire. The chap I spoke to is going to try to get the Melbourne Red 340i that’s listed at Marshall’s Salisbury moved down if he can I so can take that for a spin. That seems to tick all the boxes for what I really do want (black interior, sub £25k price tag and low enough mileage).

Regarding the 440i, should one come up in my price range, I’d snap that up over the 340i without hesitation!
Right now, I’m in a 4pot 320i with eccentric shaft issues and an oil leak. The 440i would feel like a bigger upgrade as I’d be going from a 3 series to a 4.

So an update on the situation. Just noticed Marshall’s BMW are doing an offer on new (unregistered and waiting to go onto ‘19 plate) M140i’s. Headline offer is £399 per month with £399 down, based on 8k miles per year. I’m down there this Sunday test driving the 340i and will be having a chat with them to see what they can do based on 13k miles per year. Feeling swayed by the M140i at the moment as it’s the same or similar performance but in an M-lite car.
Will post on Sunday after the test drive with what I’ve decided to go with.

Sunny, not wishing to muddy the waters for you...however, I might be letting go of my 440i M Sport Coupe. I'm weighing-up a move into an M5 or possibly a 911. Looking at a few cars this weekend. I bought it new in December 2017, Tanzanite Blue with individual Opal White Merino leather, M Sport Plus pack, 3-year service pack, HUD, etc. Maybe in your budget. PM me if you want more details. Cheers.

Sadly, I’d need the GC if I went for a 440i. Hope you get what you want for it if you do sell and for the love of God man get the M5!

Get in car, press speech buttton, tell it what to play. I am on an I Phone SE in a 2017 car though.
