Hello All, recently got a puncture in my E92 and thought I just had a puncture in the side wall. In reality, the tyre has worn about half an inch on the inside and has worn through to the steel in about 5 different places. Have noticed that the passenger side is going the same way. Any ideas as there is still 4/5 mill across the rest of tyre ?

Common occurrence on many bmw, especially 3 series, RFT or not.

What size rims? The bigger, the worse it is usually.

Running on 19's. Car is on french roads for last 15 months but not doing significant mileage. BMW highlighted the issue during an mot last summer but had no explanation.

Too much toe in or toe out (but you would have noticed the latter). You need to have the wheel alignment done. If yours is a sports model there is a possibility that the figires are more aggressive than for the non sports suspension. Ask the guy to check. It's just a few clicks for him. If they are Indeed different go for non sports setup as it is much easier on tyres.

Yes, all of my BMWs have tended to wear the edges of the tread on front tyres much more than the centre of the tread.

Sport models (the predecessor to M-Sport) more so than SEs.

But it's well worth getting tracking checked anyway. thumbup
