BMW E36 325i Coupe Window Problem help please?

Hi Everyone, just signed up to the forum and was wondering if anyone could help?

I've just bought myself a 1993 L Reg 325i. I'm having trouble with the driver's side window. Basically when you open the door and the window slightly drops and then when you close the door the window goes back up, it's not doing either.

So when going to close the door it's banging, scraping and making a horrible noise. Also noticed when opening the door the interior light does not active but does when opening the passenger door, Window dropping and closing how it should.

Any info would be appreciated.

It sounds like the switch on the striker player is not working

Sorry can you spell that out for me, what is the switch called and what's the striker player? Cheers

Striker plate I meant, if u look at it there is a switch on the inner section- take the striker off and test the switch
