Hi My 2008 / 08 Alpina D3 # 147needs a set of brake rotors,
I also need a set of rotors for the car but can't find a UK motor factors to supply the bits as there Reg is not coming up automaticaly on the data base and if you manually enter it as a D3 Alpina i get no options. I was told the car is all 330 M Sport running gear , is this true.

From having a read on the forums there's lots of pub talk about 10w60 and LL-04 and although the manual states 10w60 this appears to go against what oil should be used with a car that has a DPF and others seem to be stating that Castrol Edge 5W 40 (LL-04) is the way to go. Any thoughts on which oil i should use

Thanks

I’d go with the oil recommended in your owners manual. Re brake discs pop the last 7 digits of your chassis no into realoem website and see what comes up.

Assuming your D3 has an Alpina chassis number, the original BMW one will be struck through. It's the last 7 digits of the BMW one you need. Just FYI the BMW chassis number begins WBA, the Alpina one begins WAP.

I was informed that the breaks were upgraded by Alpina to 330d running gear and hence why the standard rear wheel bearing i ordered didn't fit ?

Thanks, will try when i get a chance to lift the bonnet

That would make sense.

My E87 123d (which had pretty much the same twin-turbo engine as the D3) had the same bigger brakes as the 130i, so it needed at least 17" wheels.

So Alpina fitting the E9* 330i/330d front brakes would seem logical.
