3.0 diesel issues
Discussion
We have got 99,000 miles on the X3 and it runs well in general.
2 things though, firstly it starts then stumbles and seems like it's cutting out but after 2 minutes or so settles into a good idle. Glow plugs? Something else you can suggest?
Secondly when driving gently through town it will often hold onto 2nd or 3rd gear and be very reluctant to go higher, even very gentle pedal use doesn't see it change up, but then eventually it does. 3,000+ rpm in 2nd gear for often 30 seconds and then suddenly changes up into higher gear. The handbook says the automatic transmission oil is sealed for life yet ZF say 80,000 miles is about right. Would an oil change help with the above issue?

2 things here, but I'd recommend having the diagnostic codes read for both. Glow plugs or the glow plug module sound likely, but it could be a fueling issue too.2 things though, firstly it starts then stumbles and seems like it's cutting out but after 2 minutes or so settles into a good idle. On the transmission, yes, a transmission fluid change would possibly help things. No guarantees though.
Diagnostics first (proper diagnostics though, not a generic OBD2 reader).
