BMW i8 Wheels

Has anyone here changed the stock wheels on their i8 for larger ones? Been looking online and speaking with a few specialists but opinions vary. Wondering if someone has real-world experience of running on 21" or 22" rims with wider tyres? Lots of people seem to run them with 9" front and 10" rear 22s all round but interested in how the ride/handling is. It's the wife's car and although she's used to a firm ride (no jokes) think it may be just a bit too harsh. Being quoted anything from £3k upwards so don't want to spend the money and she ends up hating the car!
