Coding in Tyneside area
Discussion
I have an F25 30d and I want the stop/start disabled. After 10 months with the car, it's really becoming tiresome now.
I'm not IT-savvy, so I'd rather get someone to do the job for me. TBH, I'm not sure where to start asking. I did ask my local garage when I took the car for its MOT, but he said to ask a remapper. Any recommendations around Tyneside, or within an hour's drive, please?
With the benefit of hindsight, I could have asked when the car went in for the EGR cooler recall. Not sure if BMW would do it, though.

I'd reconsider doing it yourself. It really is simple, and no IT or specialist knowledge is required with some of the apps now available. I recently bought the 'Bimmercode' app specifically to change the Stop/Start function being enabled by default. It was £26 for the app, and about the same for an OBD adapter on Amazon, so you wouldn't need to travel anywhere. The local independent specialist that does this near me would have charged £80 for coding, so it was a no-brainer. I run it on an ipad & iPhone, but I'm sure it's available for Android, too.
You can code a load of stuff in standard mode, and there's also an expert mode, which you'd probably want to leave alone. It's worth pointing out that this app is for coding only, and you'd need its sister app 'BimmerLink' (£25) to read / reset fault codes, register a new battery etc. I haven't bothered getting that one, but may do in the future.
I'd never done anything like this before either, but there are plenty of YouTube reviews / demos / tutorials for this and other similar apps. I did also consider the 'Carly' app which is also popular, but they now have an annual subscription model, and I just wouldn't use the thing enough to justify the extra expense.

Try Craig/Wibbles at BR Diagnostics - https://babybmw.net/viewforum.php?f=95 - he's in that neck of the woods.
Very popular on Baby BMW, and I've just used him for coding full screen CarPlay on my 1 Series - very happy with the service.

Not a chance! I still have nightmares about all the wasted time and money trying to diagnose/code my E46 - not to mention the screwed laptop.
Never again.Edited by StuBeeDoo on Monday 6th May 08:38
