Should I replace the flywheel
Discussion
Hi all. Looking for some advice.
I have a 1 series’s with 100k mileage 2012. It’s an ex company car so mostly motorway mileage.
Last week on my way home from a 50 min journey. I noticed it was getting difficult to get into gear. Mainly reverse. 1st was abit hard... and the others not really much of a problem. Took it to the garage and they said the clutch needs replacing. As my car has a flywheel they recommend that to be replaced also. However I’m not getting any signs the flywheel is getting bad. No noise or nothing. Do you recon it will be better to just get the clutch sorted? Anyone experienced similar?

With a 100k on it, I would bet the flywheel is worn anyway, so while it is in pieces for the clutch I would buy a flywheel off EuroCarParts with the massive discount you can get - and get them to fit it while the old one is staring them in the face
They wear together so is beneficial to be swapped together...
I would also replace the gearbox oil aswell, 100k will be way past it's sell by date for a refresh.
