Hi,

Re: BMW 530i 2003 E39

does anyone have experience in using an OBD scanner with 1.4.0 software? I wanted to get it up and running to check my malfunctioning PDC.

Thought I would be clever and install the software, on an elderly laptop with Win XP Pro SP3 loaded, before I actually had my hands on the hardware.

The software simply refuses to install. Iolo System Mechanic reports an infection "W32BanloadJ.gen!Eldorado", which I am informed is a 'false positive'. Could be, because my Avast Premier doesn't report anything amiss. It behaves exactly the same on my Win10 desktop.

Nevertheless the program, which just reports 'Drivers not installed', doesn't appear under Device Manager, so I am unable to install the drivers.

Should I have the hardware connected, with ignition on, before attempting to install the software? That isn't the way with most added hardware, normally it's a case of install the software first. I'm completely foxed, so to speak.

Thanks in advance for any assistance offered.

Best Regards

Tony Norton

I guess you mean PA Soft 1.4? I have it afraid I can’t remember which laptop I have it on. It works well, installed straight away without the interface plugged in.
