What does the handbook say? Do you have a downloadable e-brochure?
I have a handbook downloaded against my VIN.

If you mean the red "light" symbol in front of the pic of the car, do you think it could be a bulb out at the front of the car?

All bulbs are working, that was my first check.

I also dont have the hand book :/

But its temperamental. Sometimes the warning comes on and stays on

Or sometimes it comes on then goes

Or it just isnt on when I start the engine...

Bit confused by it

I had this sometimes on my old E46 (facelift 330d saloon, halogen headlights). On mine there was a tiny little not-super-obvious bulb in the corner of the headlight unit that wasn't switching on - probably part 3 here, I assume: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=ER92...

I figured there was probably a reason for this, and not a good one, but as it was occasional I never bothered actually doing anything about it...

Poor earth on a bulb on that corner. Is one a bit dim?

Looks like the symbol for the low-beam bulb to me. The fault is probably a bad connection.

Looks like an offside dip or foglamp bulb failure.

It's the same icon for low beam, high beam, and parking lights.

(I assume the little light that was flaky on mine was the parking light, then? Don't think I ever used it. Though strictly speaking, I think you're supposed to, when parked the wrong way at night...)

I’ve just had this fault on my E46 the other week. Exact same intermittent symptoms, slowly it got worse/more frequent.

I diagnosed it as a poor connection on my front right hand indicator bulb. Whilst my bulb was OK, there was scorching on the bulb holder and base of the bulb leading to a poor connection.

I fitted a new bulb for good measure and new holder (originals 14yrs old), all sorted for a few quid.

The function works on bulb resistance so any faulty connections or wrong rated bulbs or failing bulbs are a big No No
