Just browsing the Z3Ms on sale, particularly the beautifully ugly coupe version, and the prices are stratospheric... I remember nearly buying one many years ago, with about 75,000 miles on it, for around £12,000 - I think if I had done, even with another 50k miles on it, I'd be looking at having doubled my money whilst enjoying it for a decade plus.

Do we think the Z4 is destined for similar insanity?

Check out the Z3M & Coupe that I posted up on supercar/rare cars spotted forum. Both are for sale. I had a Z3M & it was mental.

Prices will settle and then start to rise, but I think the Z3 M Coupe is particularly sought after because it's just so unusual.

BMW did do a cooking Z3 Coupe on the continent, but in the UK, all Z3 coupes were the M version, and are consequently very rare. The Z4 Coupe sold well as a 3.0si, so the Z4M Coupe doesn't stand out as much.

My prediction for the Z4M Coupe would be to look at the Z3 M Coupe's mechanically identical, but cosmetically unremarkable sister, the Z3 M Roadster - much cheaper than the coupe now. This is roughly where I think Z4M Coupe prices will sit.

But then, nobody can really tell...

I have been looking at Z3M coupe prices and to me they seem to have softened up in the past year or so? Anyone else think this? I am maybe looking to buy in the next year or so.

I think prices for most collectable/classic cars have softened a bit just lately.

Early Z3Ms are very "analogue" in that they don't even have Traction Control whereas later ones do! Which may be a draw to some buyers, but probably not me! (I don't think I have enough talent for that). They did offer a 2.8i Coupe in Europe, but not in the UK.

But I think Z4M prices are being influenced by Z3M prices as they are the next best option on a lower budget.

And hopefully Z4 3.0Si prices follow the Z4M trend, as I have a 3.0Si Coupe! laugh

Personally I think the Z4MC looks better than the Z3MC, but it's just a personal preference.

Anyway, FWIW less than 700 Z4MCs were registered in the UK so even they are pretty rare.

With the Z3 I am (bizarrely) only interested in the M and only in the M coupe, because of it's looks and rarity. I think the Z4 is a much more visually appealing car in all its forms, but - for some reason - I can't help thinking that if I got a Z4 coupe (M or otherwise) I would continually lament my lack of roofless capability in a way that I strangely wouldn't with the Z3.

This is, I know, completely bizarre. wobble

I prefer the classic look of the zed3 m.
I have driven a zed4 m some time
ago and it was amazing. For fun / possible investment I'd go for the zed3 m.

Z3M looks awesome but is old.

I had a Z4M which I loved the look of ... but the clutch and gearbox ruined the experience for me.

Try both ... you will find the Z3M 'cosy' if anything near my 16stone bulk :-D
