2008 X3 E83 3.0D M57 Fan on constantly

When i turn on the ignition the radiator fan comes on too, the temp gauge is showing slightly cooler when running and there's some lights on the dash. tried disconnecting the battery for 30 mins, no dice. Bought a coolant sensor 13621433076 for £10 but it looks impossible to fit (rear of engine + special socket needed)

Any ideas ?

Get into the hidden cluster menu (Google for instructions on how to do this) and see what temp your stats are running at

Also; does your engine have the viscous clutch fan; or an electric fan?

Hi , sorry no luck with this , I sold it to WBAC in the end . When the guy appraised it he mentioned the engine fault light bulb had been removed
