X3 m40i steering issue

I’ve recently had a replacement x3 m40i delivered and have finished the running in period. I’ve started to use the performance but have found that it has an underlying safety system that pulls the vehicle back into lane and while doing corrupts the steering.

I have got the assistance pack fitted which I use on the motorway but even with it switched off the car will pull back quite violently when it detects I’m out of lane. It’s driving me mad and I’ve just read briefly Jeremy Clarkson’# negative review on the X5 in the Times which I think has my problem.

Does anyone know a way to switch this damn system off in the background which is ruining what was a brilliant all round vehicle.
