BMW 120D 2018 Oxygen Sensor Fault
Discussion
Just looking for some ideas on what would have caused this?
I had owned my used120d 2018 for three hours after collecting it from the BMW dealership and the emissions amber light came up on the car. It is all under warranty with BMW so not an issue in terms of me having to spend anything.
But the dealership got back to me today saying they have identified the fault and it was a faulty oxygen sensor.
Does anyone have any ideas on why on earth a part like this would fail so early on?
The car has only done 12k.
Just wondering if the previous owner has hammered it all the time, or if it is just a genuine worn part?

I’ve never bought one, I’m in manufacturing, so there’s hundreds at work, and I’ve had to replace them from time to time.
It’s placed in such a way, that it’s a serviceable item. Look’s like thirty quid’s worth to me
.... No doubt they cost a bit more.
Thank you. Just good to know once the warranty period expires as these are all things I may well end up having to pay for! It’s placed in such a way, that it’s a serviceable item. Look’s like thirty quid’s worth to me
