In a world of EU regulations, that effecting the performance of vehicles ( Fossil Fuel ones )
Im after a AWD Small vehicle, and im struggling !

On my list is the mentioned BMW,
The new ( to be released ) MINI Countryman John Cooper works ALL4 which has the same chassis, AWD, Auto box and engine as the X2 M35i but a few thousand pounds less !

I test drove a Land Rover Evoque P250 today and was disappointed. because it could be so much more for LandRover. it needed a Button to lower and stiffen the suspension and Quicken up the gearbox. It would then be a better car for people who ask for a bit of performance.
I told the sales staff this and i was shown the door frown Told me to go to the Jaguar Dealership down the road.
I said the Jags are too big and heavy and don't fit in car parking spaces. They nodded and hustled me out the door.

I test drove a X2 Xdrive Diesel Sport last week for the day, and was really impressed. For a dirty Diesel, it performed well. Maybe im asking too much, ? I cant deal with the Auto Lag when rolling starts onto roundabouts, im sure its all down to EU Regulations about not being able to nip out in front of traffic anymore.

Yes i have driven a TESLA S type P85D and that's the problem i have, that's was perfect in everyway, but not practical for a Company Site car, i need space to throw in Copper pipe and aircon units, have a roof rack , bigger tires to bump the kerb while visiting customers in the city centre.

If you have got this far, thank you for reading, im hoping that there is someone like me out there with the same problem ?

I put 44k miles on a 2017 X1 20d and despite a SUV being way out of my comfort zone and owning a M3 , it impressed , for a SUV, in ride and handling and practicality v overall relatively small size so great for street parking and narrow roads.
Engine whilst faster than most ordinary cars (including Evoques wink ) clogging my commute was too slow for me and I did imagine that with a rapid engine it would be a much better daily.
If I were in your position now , this new X2 sounds great. It should offer everything my X1 did but with performance.

OP ,you are describing a pickup , not an SUV
AC unit,copper pipe ?
If it has to be an SUV perhaps ,ignore the badge ,there are equally
capable SUVs with "ordinary" badges

Dad just picked up his new X2 M35i on Tuesday this week. Black with Magma Red interior with a great spec. Just missing pano roof and electric seats IMHO but as it was the showroom car he took it as is.

Initial thoughts...bloody fantastic.

The ride is not as harsh as I thought it would be. Sounds great. Good space inside. Decent sized boot with a large under floor stowage.

Oh, and it's quick, very quick!

He has gone from a RRS to this and says it is no less comfortable than the RRS. He holidays in the Highlands every year so that will the test on a long run. Mum is in a care home now so it's only him and he has moved into a flat in Cheltenham which was a tad tight getting the RRS in and out!

Can't say much more as he has only had it for 2 days but initial impressions are very good indeed.

Sadly my son (6 year old) has now proclaimed that Grandad has a waaaay cooler car than you Daddy.

ETA: Bumping up and down kerbs and use as a site vehicle, not too sure it's ideal for that!

Yes , I understand , we had a Mitsubishi Animal on loan whilst our Tiguan was in for repairs .
Parking WAS an issue .
Is it essential that it is a BMW though ? as I said there are “ordinary “ ( Not your quote , but badge snobbery )brands that could be considered , the new , VAG SUVs for instance are now compared to RR by some reviewers , as well as PSA and Far east output .Are you being a little bit blinkered ?

Sounds like you need a Defender 90 smile

If it has to be new, I'd be looking at Kia or Hyundai SUV's, or perhaps Skoda, Tiguan? or Toyota RAV4 perhaps?

How much performance do you need?

A35, or would the 4wd A250 do?

SEAT do the Leon ST 4wd

I need performance that will be slightly quicker than the majority of cars on the road.
Its good to have that extra edge.
