MHD failure cause car won’t start please help
Discussion
Hi everyone, I am from Hong Kong. I hope that you could help me out with this.
I have did a lot of review before try to flash my car with MHD, and I finally decide to flash it today, but my flash didn’t went well and my car couldn’t turn on anymore, the following was the process of my flash, hope that you can help me.
First, I have my battery charger connected to my car, then I pug in the K+DCAN cable, it connect successfully, I purchases the flasher module and stage 1 map, then I go backup my ECU and start flash the map. Firstly it go well, but then it stuck at (15%, 31min left.). I wait for more than 1 hour but it still stuck at 15% and start raining (I don’t have a gauge at my home, I just do the flashing outside my house) so I have no choices and I unplug the cable, then I restart the phone and ofcause my car can’t start anymore.
After my phone restarted, I try to flash my car back to stage 0, the MHD app go well and start flash back to stock, later on, it stuck at (89% 2min) left again, after half hours and it rains again... I have no Choice to unplug the cable again. Finally, the MHD app no longer connects to the ECU, I try with the same cable that I have used and it said no cable detected. That is all the process of my flash, and I have couple questions want to ask, hope that you can give me some help, thanks.
1:The MHD app no longer connects to my ecu with the same cable that I have used for flashing and MHD said (NO CABLE DETECTED), is that mean my ECU go totally dead? Or only the problem of the cable?
2: Why will my flashing stuck during the process? The problem of the cable, phone or the battery? Have anyone got the same “stucking” problem before when you try to flash your car?
Later on tonight, MHD replies to me with a mail, here is what he said:
You can not brick your dme, MHD will always repair a failed flash. Do not flash back to stock, just retry the map you already tried or go with stage 0.
I want to know is there any cases that someone had killed his car’s ECU totally and need to replace&reprogramming a new ECU? I did trust what MHD said, but my friend(he is doing service in car repair business) told me that I have brick my ECU and I need to go reprogramming the entire ECU with the machinist or technician which is professional in ECU program and ofcause that cause a lot of money. He told me not to try reflashing with MHD anymore because it may cause ECU locked, then I need to replace a new one.
Here is the question, should I trust MHD and just try to flash back to stage0 or going for stage1? Or I should trust my friend to spend a lot of money to fix it with professional programmer? For myself, I do really trust MHD, cause I don’t want to spend unnecessary money on something that maybe fixed easily. Please can you give me some help.
Sorry for my poor English, hope that you can get what I mean. Thankyou so much.

Sorry to hear of your issues.
MHD is definitely reliable once it has been installed.
Nearly every case of an install that didn't go well is to do with a battery voltage drop, or a cable that is unreliable. So long as your battery has sufficient voltage, the cable is good, and your phone is on aeroplane mode, then the flashing process should happen without any issues.
I would charge the battery over night, and then keep the charger connected while you are flashing. Turn your phone to aeroplane mode, and restart the process.
Also, turn off your lights, heater controls, I Drive screen - anything that can cause an interruption to voltage. Lastly, the best way to flash is to lower your driver's window once you have set up the flash process - get out of the car, shut the door, and then proceed with the flash so that you don't have to open or close the door at all during the process.
Good luck!

Thanks everyone for help me, I will try a new cable next week, but I can’t have a battery charger for my flashing because there are no garage in my house, my car parked 20m away from my house, I will try to use a jumper cable connect to a running car in order to get battery supply. Last time I parked my car right outside my house and flashing my car, after the failure I have to push my car back to my parking spot, I don’t want to push my car from the parking spot to my house again=,=
